Postpartum Package FAQ

1. Why is the initial consult so long?

The initial consult for any of my program options is always 60-90 minutes. This may seem like a long time because we are so used to being rushed in and out of medical doctor’s offices but I believe in getting to know my clients and this requires more time. We will use that time to discuss you, your goals, go over the intake forms, discuss current health (diet, lifestyle, supplements) practices, medical history, + more. I will also take some time (not a lot) to tell you more about myself and what my plan of action is for each of the subsequent sessions. There is always time allotted to answering any questions you may have.

2. What is included in the personalized nutrition plan?

This will differ based on your personal preferences and potential nutrient gaps however, for the most part this will involve either a meal plan, a list of ingredients, or recommended recipes that I will provide to you based on your intake forms and information provided in the initial consult. These suggestions will be tailored to you and your specific likes and dislikes and can of course incorporate foods you are hoping to try. Within this plan I will also ensure that any gaps in nutrition that may exist are filled by offering food suggestions that contain those specific nutrients. I will go over why these nutrients are important and how they will benefit you moving forward.

Lastly, I will include a list of nutrients that should be prioritized based on your health goals with information as to why each nutrient is critical during the postpartum period.

3. Is this program suitable for women with specific dietary preferences or restrictions?

Yes, absolutely. All of my program options are tailored to accommodate a variety of dietary preferences and restrictions, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free diets. We will work closely to develop a nutrition plan that aligns with your individual needs and preferences.

4. What is the benefit of grocery shopping together and why might I be interested in that option?

This is a totally optional add on that will give you the chance to grocery shop with me and find out more about each ingredient included in your plan. We will go through the aisles and choose the foods from your plan together and I can explain which brands may be more suitable over others and why, go over how to read nutrition labels to make more informed food choices, and answer any questions you may have regarding how to find more cost effective options. Grocery shopping can be overwhelming. If you are someone who dreads grocery shopping and are just seeking more information on how to remove some of that stress, this is a great option for you. Plus as I say in the description, it can be a lot of FUN!

5. Why is postpartum care needed?

After birth progesterone and estrogen levels drop pretty significantly due to the delivery of the placenta, while oxytocin, prolactin and adrenaline increase for various reasons (which we will discuss within our sessions). The postpartum period is one of the most challenging periods in a woman’s life because of these hormonal fluctuations coupled with the recovery process, sleep deprivation, anxiety surrounding taking care of a new baby (especially if this is your first), and establishing new routines as a family. Women’s hormone levels don’t tend to normalize until around the 3-6 month postpartum mark and can take even longer depending on the woman. Postpartum care is so critical because it prioritizes maternal health and well-being amid this new normal and focuses on re-establishing nutrient stores to support the body while it works to restore hormone levels. The goal of my postpartum package is to increase nutrients lost after pregnancy and birth, support hormones as they work to normalize in an effort to reduce symptoms of postpartum depression and anxiety that can come from hormonal imbalances, and really focus on helping you feel your best.
